Who’s Hot in HBCU Baseball 2022 Weekend Edition

Florida A&M University 

The Florida A&M baseball team swept the three-game series over Grambling State in the Ralph Garr-Bill Lucas HBCU Baseball Classic. The Rattlers won the first game on Friday 7-3 and Saturdays doubleheader 7-5 and 6-2. FAMUs first basemen Grant Rowell in the three-games series, in 11 at bats collected 7 hits, scored three runs, and drove home 4 runners with a .636 batting average for the series.

 

 


Alabama State University 

To avenge Friday’s series opening 5-3 loss, the Hornets handed UT-Martin a 13-0 defeat scoring early and often in the first game and a 3-2 doubleheader win on Saturday that clinched the series. In the second game Alabama State started Breon Pooler went eight innings and allowed just two hits, while walking one and striking out 10.

 

 


Savannah State University 

The Tigers scored 43 runs sweeping LeMoyne-Owens College in SIAC conference action winning the opening series nine-inning affair 13-7. Saturday Savannah State won both doubleheader contests 22-0 and 8-7 sweep to clinch the series. First baseman Andrai Wright for the series batted .700 in 10 at bats had 7 hits, 2 doubles scored 4 runs with 8 runs batted in.

 

 


Paine College 

Paine completes sweep of Atlantis University in weekend series visiting Miami, Florida, after scoring a 5-3 game one win, the Lions held on for a game-two 11-10 victory. Lions starter Michael Rounds complete game win his fourth of the season.
