As announced on June 16th, the upcoming 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game weekend will open with its third annual HBCU Swingman Classic to be played in Atlanta, Georgia at Truist Stadium on Friday, July 11, 2025.
The HBCU Swingman Classic highlights the history and legacy of Historically Black College and University baseball programs with 50 NCAA Division One HBCU baseball players getting the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage.
Of the 50, there are currently 26 members of the 2025 Black College Nines 33-member first and second team All-Elites. The group includes BCN Player of the Year Cardell Thibodeaux of Grambling State, co-Pitchers of the Year Eric Elliott of Jackson State and Edwin Sanchez of Bethune-Cookman, as well as Freshman of the Year Garrett Workman of Florida A&M. Also included is 2024 Black College Nines Player of the Year and 2025 first team All-Elite Justin Journette of Norfolk State.
