Trio of Teams To Compete For A.I.I. Baseball Championship In 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Edward Waters, Talladega and Tougaloo will all be eligible to compete for the Association of Independent Institutions Baseball Championship in 2016 the association announced over the weekend.

A total of 15 teams will vie for eight spots and a chance to play for one of the three automatic bids given to the tournament Champion, Runner-up, and Third-place finisher.

Georgia Gwinnett College will host the tournament in Lawrenceville, Georgia at the Grizzly Baseball Complex from May 7-10 with May 11 set as a make-up date in case of rain.

The field of eight will be named between April 18 and April 25.  Georgia Gwinnet recieves an automatic bid as the tourney host with the other seven schools selected based on national ratings.

Talladega College is the last GCAC school to compete in the NAIA national baseball tournament.  The Tornadoes were an at-large selection after the 2014 season.
