The City of Tyler, Texas, City Council has approved waiving fees for the Texas College’s baseball team to play all of its home games at Woldert Park’s baseball field. City Council, this past October 2019, voted unanimously to approved waiving fees for field rentals for the baseball program at Woldert Park.
The Steers baseball team has expressed its gratitude for the yearly $1,000 fee waiver and it is anticipated to help attract collegiate games to Tyler. This measure was a business move that will generate advertising revenue for the City when Texas College starts using the field for collegiate baseball games.
Texas College is going to allow council to have 100 percent of the advertising fees from banner sales which could bring in “10-15 thousand” yearly but it also helps secure the team with a home field and host a possible Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) baseball tournament in the spring when TC starts using the field for collegiate games. The team said “they’re very grateful” to the city.

Russ Jackson (Tyler Parks and Rec), retired Councilman Moore and the city of Tyler In its entirety has done a tremendous job making the north side of Tyler an attraction for elite baseball. We are very grateful for Dennis Combs and the Rose Capital West board for allowing us to utilize Faulkner Park as our home the previous 3 seasons and we will continue to do community service with them throughout the year. Without our Faulkner Park relationship we would not be the caliber of ball club we are today. We are Tyler. We are TC. Go Steers ⚾️
