It’s that time of the year again when HBCU baseball teams take to the field in hopes the start of the season can lead to that all important conference championship. A number of Historically Black College and University (HBCU) small school baseball programs will soon open their 2020 seasons. Teams are gearing up to play single games, three-and-four-game series and doubleheaders. Some will be HBCU head to head action, others will be premier non-conference contests and some even will be conference matchups. As always, the regular season will be tough to sort out. There will be surprises down the line.
Florida Memorial opens with a scheduled scrimmage doubleheader January 20th against ASA College-Miami then plays two doubleheaders on the road beginning Friday, January 24th in a non-conference four-game series at Louisiana State University-Shreveport in Shreveport, La.
Ten HBCU programs will oppose each other in head-to-head battles. Those teams include Morehouse, Tuskegee, Clark Atlanta, Rust, Claflin, Virginia State, Lane, Tougaloo, Stillman and Voorhees.
HBCU baseball battles always offer up entertaining games. Texas College, Talladega, and Jarvis Christian College are taking on preseason NAIA nationally ranked teams providing a great start to the 2020 college baseball season.
