SIAC Week 2 Player of The Week

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its baseball weekly honors, released by the league office on Monday.

Joseph Esparza (Kentucky State) was named Player of the Week, while Andrew Mann (Savannah State) earned Pitcher of the Week honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Joseph Esparza, Kentucky State

Esparza had eight hits in 16 at-bats leading the Thorobreds to a 2-2 record last week against the University of Cumberlands (Ky.) and Morehouse College. He finished the week with three home runs, two doubles, scoring five runs and batted in 10 runners.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Andrew Mann, Savannah State

Andrew Mann earned his first start and first win on Saturday. Mann set the tone for the Tigers three-game series sweep of Lane, starting in game one. He pitched a full 8.0 innings after being scheduled for only five. He allowed 2 hits, no earned runs, with 1 walk and 6 strikeouts against 27 batters as the Tigers opened the series with a 5-1 win.
