Savannah State junior right-hander Andrew Mann was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Pitcher Of The Week, according to a press release from the conference office on Monday.
Mann opened the weekend for the Tigers and set the tone for a three-game series sweep of Lane College on Saturday and Sunday.
In his first start of the season, Mann pitched a full 8.0 innings in game one on Saturday. He allowing no earned runs on two hits with one walk and six strikeouts against 29 batters, leading the Tigers to a 5-1 win. He now leads the Tigers bullpen with a 0.00 ERA after two appearances and 10 innings pitch.
Savannah State improved to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in conference action with the series sweep.
Kentucky State’s Joseph Esparza was named the SIAC Player Of The Week after racking up eight hits in 16 at-bats over four games. He finished the week with three home runs, two doubles, scoring five runs and batted in 10 runners.
