This Black College Nines podcast episode features a candid conversation with former legendary Southern baseball coach Roger Cador who most recently served as head coach of the Jaguars baseball team. Cador speaks frankly about HBCU institution presidents and athletic departments slashing budgets of baseball programs and the lack of proper support to the sport. Coach Cador tells how he managed as head coach and ran the program with a limited budget for expenses, no equipment or facilities. Cador explains how he spearheaded efforts that built an on-campus stadium, raised the program to national prominence without support from the school’s administration and his fundraising support which came from the community. Cador also spoke of a growing effort for a HBCU baseball national championship.
