HBCU Baseball Weekend in Review Week Two – Large School Division

Florida A&M baseball sweeps the three-game series over Grambling State in the Ralph Garr-Bill Lucas HBCU Baseball Classic in Atlanta. The Rattlers won the first game on Friday 7-3 and won the doubleheader Saturday 7-5 then completed the sweep with a 6-2 finale win.

Alabama State collects their first weekend series win of the season with a doubleheader sweep over the University of Tennessee- Martin, winning game one 13-0 then took game two by the score of 3-2 completing the doubleheader sweep and won the three-games series on Saturday night.

Coppin State banged out 13 hits enroute to a 12-4 win over St. Peter’s to get their second win of the season Sunday in the finale of the three-game set. Coppin hitters belted a school record six triples on the afternoon. The previous record four dating back to April 30, 1984, at Maryland Eastern Shore. The six triples were one short of the NCAA record of seven.

Prairie View A&M defeated Jackson State Tigers in the JSU Tournament winning 6-3, scoring all of their runs in the third and fourth innings Sunday.

Norfolk State over the weekend gets their first win of the season downing Georgetown 2-1 on Friday.
