HBCU Baseball Weekend in Review Week Seven – Small School Division

Miles College’s three game sweep of Lane College opened Saturday winning both ends of a doubleheader 9-5 and 7-5. The Golden Bears completed the three-game sweep breaking out the broom winning Sunday 16-4 to extend their win streak to 10 games.

Xavier University of Louisiana baseball completed a three-game Red River Athletic Conference sweep of Wiley College. The Gold Rush scored in every inning of Friday’s game one and cruised to a 15-2 victory. They then won the series with a doubleheader sweep Saturday with 11-1 and 16-8 victories. Xavier outscored the Wildcats 42-11 in the series.

West Virginia State baseball swept a doubleheader over Alderson Broaddus University winning 9-5 and 16-10 Sunday as State moves to 8-4 on the season.

Savannah State improved to 18-6 this weekend and 14-1 in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) action with a three-game series sweep of Morehouse College. The Tigers opened with a single game 12-0 shutout Saturday then a 12-4 and 17-2 doubleheader sweep on Sunday. SSU outscored the Marron Tigers 41-6 in the series.

Virginia State took two of three games from Mid-Atlantic Christian University winning Saturday doubleheader 5-2 and 8-6. The Trojans fell short of rallying in their efforts to sweep the series losing 7-5 Sunday.
