HBCU Baseball Weekend in Review Week Eleven – Small School Division

Edward Waters took all three games against the nation’s No. 1 HBCU Baseball small school team sweeping Savannah State over the weekend winning 6-5, 12-2 and 7-6.

Florida Memorial University took its weekend three-game series over No. 7 St. Thomas to to clinch its first-ever weekend series victory over the Bobcats two games to one.

Jarvis Christian College Bulldogs swept Red River Athletic Conference foe Wiley College over the weekend 7-0, 15-10 and 12-2.

Rust College Bearcats swept Tougaloo College 12-6 opening series doubleheader which includes a come-from-behind 12-11 win for the sweep in the second game.

  1. Xavier University New Orleans started the season with news on game day, that they lost their starting catcher, short stop, 3rd baseman and 2nd baseman. They lost their best closer the 2nd week of the season and struggled out of the gate to get their hitting and team chemistry together. They are in one of the most talented conferences in the NAIA baseball. We are competing and have started to get hitting from some of the players who replaced the starters from last year. We are playing better and could beat most of the teams in your top ten small school division. If they were in some of the other conferences, they would have a winning record.
