Winston Salem State And Miles College Set For NCAA Division II Regional Baseball Tournaments

Miles College and Winston Salem State University baseball teams will be competing in the 2017 NCAA Division II Regional Tournament this weekend. Both team are ranked in Black College Nines’ Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Baseball Top 10 Poll  and as well, won their conference championships. 

Miles earned an automatic bid by winning the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Championship. They will enter the South Region Tournament as the No. 7 seed and will open play against No. 2 seed in the tournament, the University of Tampa. Play starts Friday, May 19, 2017 at 3 PM. Games for the South Region tournament will be played at Delta State University.in Cleveland, Mississippi. 

Winston Salem State earned a selection in the Atlantic Regional Tournament by winning the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Conference Championship. The Rams enter as the No. 7 seed and will face the No. 2 seed, West Chester University, in opening play on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 3 PM. WSSU will play its tournament Atlantic Region games at Russell Diethrick Park in Jamestown, New York.

The NCAA Baseball Regional is the first postseason tournament in programs history for Miles. Winston Salem State is making its sixth NCAA appearance in the last seven years. Regional winners advance to the NCAA Division II Baseball Finals to be held May 27 – June 3 in Grand Prairie, Texas.
