Who’s Hot in HBCU Baseball: Week Two

HBCU baseball produced some heroes who helped their teams to victory this past weekend as Black College Nines continues its season long coverage of Who’s Hot In HBCU Baseball.

Kentucky State University 

Thorobreds 8-6 nonconference win on the road defeating West Alabama.

Daccarius Chapman (1-0) first win of the season, 3.0 innings, 0 runs, 0 hits, 0 earned run, 3 strike outs.

 

 

 

Michael Pedraza recorded the save (S-1).

 

 

 

 


Wiley University 

In a 9-6 win over Sterling College. Jhan Carlos Javier in the DH role was 2-for-3, with 2 hits and 3 runs batted in providing the WildCats their first win of the season.

 

 

 


Dillard University 

Dylan Scott freshman RHP from Grand Prairie, TX factored in Dillard’s 6-4 win over Xavier of Louisiana, in relief gave up 1 hit in 2.0 innings recording the save for the teams second win of the young season.

 

 

 


Tuskegee University 

In the Golden Tigers 7-6 win over Tougaloo College. Mikelle Mason picked up his first win on the mound, allowing no hits and no runs in three innings of work out of the bullpen, striking out two.

 

 

 

Noteworthy: 

Edward Waters University Jaylan Robinson, DH in the Tigers 9-3 win over Voorhees batted 2-for-4 with 2 runs, belted a double and a home runs, recording 3 runs batted in.

Harris Stowe State University RHP Tre Whiting in a 3-2 lost to Voorhees in 6.2 innings pitched recorded 7 strikeouts.
