Who’s Hot In HBCU Baseball: Week Seven

Pitching gems, strikeout artists and upsets of nationally ranked teams highlight HBCU Baseball Black College Nines “Who’s Hot” week seven.

Florida Memorial University

The Lions relief pitching shut down the nation’s NAIA No. 12 ranked Kaiser Seahawks winning three out of four games this weekend.

Stephen West, Jamal Johnson, and Kevin Feliciano were lights out in relief.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Florida A&M University

The Rattlers swept Alabama A&M over the weekend.

Ty Jackson during the three-game series was 7-for-9 at the plate with 1 double, 1 triple, 1home run, and 7 runs driven in.

 

 

 

 

Grambling State University

Starter Randy Reyes 7.0 innings pitched, threw a 3 hitter allowed no runs or earned runs, striking out 12 in the Tigers 10-0 win over Alcorn State.

 

 

 

 

Prairie View A&M University

Michael Dews (W, 2-1) The Panthers 16-5 win over University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Saturday. Dews 7.2 innings on the hill struck out 10 batters.

 

 

 

 

North Carolina A&T State University

Aggies catcher Canyon Brown in game one of the three-game series against Mason University, Bown went 3-for-3 with 8 runs batted in winning the game by the score of 14-5.

 

 

 

 

Norfolk State University 

The Spartans swept weekend series defeating the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Infielder Justin Journette batted .642 over the weekend including 2 doubles and 8 runs batted.

 

 

 

 

Lane College

Lane swept Miles College 4-3 in game one, 12-0 in game two, and closed out the series with a 4-2 win. In game two, Austin Lee pitching gem a 2 hitter in Lanes 12-0 win. Lee in 7.0 innings struck out 8.

 

 

 

 

West Virginia State University

RHP Chris Morris threw a three hit shutout defeating Wheeling University 10-0. Morris (W, 2-1) complete game gem 7.0 innings, no runs or earned runs with 11 strikeouts.

 

 

 

 

Dillard University

Jorge Guerra (W, 3-4) Dillard’s 11-0 when over Philander Smith. Guerra’s 5.0 innings allowed just 2 hits, no runs with 9 Ks.
