Norfolk State University
Danny Hosley capped a tremendous weekend for Norfolk State pitchers with 10 strikeouts over eight innings. The Spartans completed a four-game MEAC sweep of Coppin State over the weekend. NSU won 5-3 to open the series Friday, swept a doubleheader by the scores of 6-2 and 3-2 on Saturday and completed the sweep with a 9-3 win Sunday.
Danny Hosley (5-1) struck out 10 in 8.0 innings of work and allowed just one earned run. Hosley also recorded two hits, one being a double, and drove home a run.
Alabama A&M University
Trailing by three runs entering the bottom of the ninth inning, Alabama A&M rallied for four runs to upend Mississippi Valley State and claimed a four-game series sweep with an 8-7 victory on Sunday.
Freshman pitcher Jason Garcia started on the mound and went 5.2 innings, allowing just a pair of earned runs and four hits while striking out eight.
Voorhees College
Voorhees upset HBCU baseball’s top ranked Xavier University of Louisiana Friday, in game 1 of a four-game series, with clutch hitting and pitching for a 14-4 victory over the weekend.
Terrell Dent threw a complete game, striking out six batters.
