Selma University – Three games won this weekend
Selma’s Marcus Hardy and Ricky Butts each had three huge games this week in wins vs. Stillman and Prolific Post Grad Academy making a great 1-2 punch at the plate. The Bulldogs defeated Stillman College in game one 16-9 and then 15-8 in game two, followed by a 8-5 win verses Prolific Post Grad Academy.
Marcus Hardy went 9 for 13 for a .692 batting average, with 2 doubles, 4 home runs and 13 runs batted in.
Ricky Butts went 8 for 13 for a .615 batting average, with 2 doubles, 1 home run and 5 runs batted in.
Coppin State University – MEAC winning streak
Nazier McIlwain’s bat propelled Coppin State to seven-straight MEAC conference wins after sweeping a doubleheader from Delaware State. For the series, McIlwain, in 10 plate appearances, batted .600, scored 3 runs, 6 hits, and 6 runs batted in.
Mississippi Valley State University – Took the series from Jackson State
Freshmen Jancarlos Aponte helped MVSU best the Tigers in the series finale as he batted in 3 runs, reached on a fielder’s choice which plated an RBI, then singled to left field which added additional 2 RBIs for the 11-7 win in game one of the doubleheader.
