Who’s Hot In HBCU Baseball – Week Eight

There was quite a bit of action on the baseball diamond this past weekend which featured some come from behind wins, walk-offs, and surprising victories.  Black College Nines continues its season long coverage of Who’s Hot In HBCU Baseball.

 


North Carolina Central University – Domination on the mound

Devin Sweet went the distance for his fourth win of the year, tossing a career-high 12 strikeouts which included the final batter of the game. Sweet, on the day went 9.0 innings pitched, allowed 4 hits, 1 run, 1 earned run, faced 31 batters include inducing 8 goundouts and 8 flyouts

 

 

 


Savannah State University – Pitcher close to dominate

Pitcher Trevor McKenna, against MEAC Southern Division foe North Carolina Central, struckout a season and career high 15 batters in 7.0 innings, but in the losing effort.

 

 

 

 


Albany State University – Swept doubleheader in conference play

Ryan McClendon homered twice, including a grand slam in game one, belted another in game two. For the day, McClendon drove in 6 runs.

 

 

 

 


Voorhees College – Help win weekend series

Angel Guerrero had a complete game performance against Concordia College of Alabama for a 9-5 win. The senior, in 9.0 innings, recorded 9 strikeouts.
