Savannah State University

Sophomore left-handed starter Gregorio Gonzalez (W, 1-1) led the Tigers to an 8-1 win over Albany State in Friday’s doubleheader. He pitched seven innings, struck out seven, and allowed five hits.

 

 

 

Kendel Spencer led Savannah State in hitting over the weekend going 8-14 (.571) with a double and a triple while collecting 7rbi.

 

 

 

Reginald Tuggle has an impressive weekend going 6-14 (.428) with 2 doubles an 6 rbi.

 

 

 

 

 

Voorhees University

Freshman Keith Copeland (W, 1-0) guided the Voorhees Tigers to a decisive 12-1 victory over Philander Smith University in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader. Copeland conceded 3 hits and 1 earned run, issued no walks, and recorded 6 strikeouts over 6 innings.

 

 

Coppin State University

Coppin State sophomore Kaden Straily pitched seven strong innings, leading the team to a 1-0 win over Mercyhurst University on Sunday in Erie, PA. Straily struck out six and allowed just two hits without giving up any runs.

 

 

Talladega College

Miguel Oropeza accomplished a rare feat by hitting a weekend cycle as the Tornadoes swept Tougaloo College in the HBCUAC Conference. Over the three games, he recorded a single, two doubles, a triple, and a home run.

 

 

Alcorn State University

The Alcorn State Braves won two out of three games against Alabama A&M in the weekend series. Alabama A&M secured the first game on Friday with a 7-4 victory, while Alcorn State claimed victory on Saturday with a score of 15-12 and concluded the series on Sunday with a 21-11 win. Jermel Ford had notable performances in the two wins, going 6-for-11 with a double, scoring 6 runs, driving in 9 runs, and stealing 8 bases.

Wiley University

Wiley University swept Rust College in weekend action.  For the series, Ivan Del Villar went 5-10 (.500) with a double, two home runs (one a grand slam), and 10 rbi. His slugging percentage was a hefty 1.200.
