Bethune Cookman University 

Joel Core tossed the first no-hitter for Bethune-Cookman baseball since 2017 as the Wildcats split a doubleheader with Southern to take the weekend series, Saturday at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Core (W,3-1) 7.0 innings did not allow a hit, or an earned run striking out 6 batters. He threw 99 pitches in the ball game. The lone run came on BCU fielding errors.

 

 

Jackson State University

Eric Elliott (W, 4-0) in 6.0 innings allowed 2 hits, no runs while recording 13 strikeouts in the Tigers game two 6-3 victory over Grambling State Friday.

 

 

 

Grambling State had an 8-1 win in the series opener Friday. Brandon Haston (L, 1-4) in the loss threw 7.0 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 earned runs, striking out 8 batters in a losing effort.

 

 

Kentucky State University

Brad Dossett (W, 2-2) pitched a complete game over 7.0 innings, allowing just 2 hits, 1 run and striking out 8 batters, in the Thorobreds 16-1 victory over LeMoyne-Owens Saturday.

 

 

Florida A&M University

Caleb Granger (W, 3-0) pitched a complete game over 7 innings, allowing just 2 hits, no runs, and striking out 7 batters, in the Ratters 10-0 victory over Prairie View A&M Friday.

 

 

 

Talladega College

Jahir Cruz finished the game one opening series going 5-for-5 with 7 runs batted in, 2 runs scored, a double, and a stolen bases in the Tornadoes 19-2 victory over Stillman Friday.

 

 

 

Florida Memorial University

In relief, Jamel Johnson (W, 3-2) went 4.1 innings allowing just 2 hits without a run striking out 6 batters in the Lions 5-3 victory over Ave Maria in the SUN Conference.

 

 

 

 

Dillard University

Dillard University defeated Voorhees University on Friday to open the three-game series. Jorge Guerra (W, 4-2) pitched 7.0 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 runs and striking out 8 batters, in a 7-2 victory.

 

 

 

 

Wiley University

In the Wildcats 9-0 win in game one of the doubleheader against Wilberforce University on Friday afternoon, right-handed pitcher Jalen Porter picked up the win in 6.1 innings, allowing 5 hits and no runs, striking out 12 batters.

 

 

Ryan Ready led the offensive effort with 3 runs batted in, going 4-for-4 at the plate and scoring 3 runs with 3 runs batted in. Ready had a double and a triple in Friday’s game. 

 

 

 

Virginia State University

Preston Branzelle (W, 2-2) pitched a complete game 7.0 innings, allowing 6 hits, 3 runs and striking out 3 batters, in VSU opening series doubleheader 4-3 victory over Lincoln (PA) Saturday.

 

 

 

Gavin Stevens (W, 1-3) threw a complete game 7.0 innings, allowing 5 hits, 4 runs, striking out 3 batters, in VSU Saturday’s doubleheader sweep 5-4 victory over Lincoln (PA).

Harris Stowe State University

Dakota Gaines, in the Hornets’ 8-4 win over Hannibal-LaGrange (MO) threw a complete game of 7.0 innings, allowed 8 hits and 4 runs, and recorded 9 strikeouts Friday.
