West Virginia State Baseball Ranked Among Top Teams in NCBWA Regional Poll

The West Virginia State University baseball team, after receiving votes in the previous National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II Atlantic Region Top 10 Poll for Week 6 (March 24), has climbed to the No. 9th spot in the National Poll announced on Wednesday March 31st. 

After sweeping a doubleheader over Fairmont State March 27th, and splitting a doubleheader with Frostburg State March 28, going 3-1, the Yellow Jackets have moved to 7-1 in the Mountain East Conference (MEC), with a 10-4 overall and regional record. 

WVSU has gone 8-2 in its last ten ball games.

Leading the Yellow Jackets:

  • Offensively, Matt Harrison is a leader for WVSU hitting .378, with 17 hits, an on base percentage of .500, 16 runs batted in and five home runs. 
  • On the mound, Ethan Lauchart  has an earned run average of 0.00 in five appearances over 18 innings pitched with a team leading 16 strikeouts.
