Two baseball players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Delaware State infielder Jaryn Sample and Norfolk State outfielder Justin Journette, have been named by Perfect Game to the Northeast Conference 2025 Pre-Season All-Conference Team.
Both players had impressive performances for their respective teams last season. Sample showcased power and consistency in his offensive play. He batted .339 in 43 games, collecting 60 hits, 6 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, and drove in 28 runs. Throughout the fall, he has been working hard to gain additional power in his swing.
Journette received several accolades, including being named to the Black College Nines Large School All-Elite First Team and HBCU Baseball Player of the Year. He was also selected for the HBCU Swingman Classic and earned All-NEC Second Team honors. Last season, he achieved a batting average of .304, with 59 hits, 10 doubles, 3 triples, 15 home runs, and 47 runs batted in.
