Tuskegee (10-12, 8-6 SIAC) defeated nearby Auburn-Montgomery 7-6 in a midweek non-conference matchup in dramatic fashion, as Joshua Lewis (Huntsville, Ala.) ended the game with a walk-off RBI single at Washington Field on Tuesday afternoon.
Lewis drove in Jaylen Hill (Jonesboro, Ga.) for the seventh and final run with two outs and the bases loaded, giving the Golden Tigers the win and ending a five-game skid.
After two scoreless innings to start the game, Russel Coleman (Laurel, Miss.) crossed the plate first for either team after earning a walk to lead off the bottom half of the frame, while Lewis scored a few batters later off a sacrifice fly from Raymond Henderson (Stone Mountain, Ga.). Meanwhile, Caleb Cobb (Hockley, Texas) scored on the next at-bat after a Warhawk error before a wild pitch allowed Harrison Barnes (Cincinnati, Ohio) to score to give Tuskegee a 4-0 lead.
AUM began to claw back in the fourth, scoring a pair of runs in the inning on a two-run homer, before another two runs in the sixth to tie the game at 4-4.
The Golden Tigers retook the lead with an RBI double from Alex Glass (Birmingham, Ala.) to score two with the bases loaded in the seventh, however the Warhawks crossed the plate in the eighth and ninth to ultimately tie the game heading into the final three outs of the game.
Malaki Roberts (St. Petersburg, Fla.) took the win for Tuskegee, working four innings and allowing two runs on five hits. DeAngelo Nowell (Atlanta, Ga.), Hunter Hudson (Montgomery, Ala.), and Maizen Price (Charlotte, N.C.) all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory.
Glass led the way offensively for the Golden Tigers, going 3-for-5 and driving in a pair of runs, while Cobb and Lewis also had success at the plate with two hits each, as the team finished with nine in the win.
