The Tougaloo College baseball program has acknowledged the passing of its beloved teammate, Jordan Mathews. Mathews was a junior infielder for Tougaloo this past 2019 season.
The school announced, “It is with heavy hearts that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved teammate, classmate, brother, and friend, Jordan Mathews— affectionately known as “Smiley”. For those who had the pleasure of meeting Jordan know he was a tremendous blessing to all those he encountered. We ask that you keep his family, our program, and the entire Tougaloo College family in your prayers through this tough time of bereavement.
Additionally, we would like to thank President Carmen Walters and her entire staff, the Office of Campus Safety, Student Affairs, Thompson Hospitality, Tougaloo College Athletics, Tougaloo Athletics Booster Club, and alumni for their supportive efforts and assistance today.”
