HOUSTON- The Texas Southern Tigers won their fifth consecutive game on Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of the visiting Huston-Tillotson Rams at MacGregor Park.
Texas Southern never trailed in either contest as the Tigers got plenty of offensive production from their lineup in games one and two.
Jamell Blue tossed five solid innings for the Tigers in game one as he picked up the win. Robert Garza and Joel Rosario each contributed two RBIs accounting for over half of TSU’s run production.
In game two Ryan Rios pitched six scoreless innings to capture the win. A seven run sixth inning and a six run eighth inning overwhelmed the under matched Rams as the Tigers cruised to a blowout victory.
Chris Lopez tallied four RBIs and Samuel Terry and Gerrick Jimenez each accounted for three RBIs during the contest.
Tigers now shift focus back to league play as they get set to host rival Prairie View A&M on Saturday and Sunday at MacGregor Park. The first pitch is slated for 1:00 pm on both days with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday.
