Returning players for 2025 for the Aggies who had outstanding off-seasons.
Enrique Wood, senior shortstop
Started 49 games at shortstop in 2024. Had a stellar season in Coastal Plain League with the Martinsville Mustangs. Named to the CPL all-star team and played for their select team vs Team USA. He had a great fall, by far the most improved player year to year. Wood really showed big strides in his overall game, including leadership at the shortstop position and his day in day out consistency. He made a case to hold down the leadoff spot, being on base all fall and showing improved confidence in swiping bases. He is poised to have a breakout season.
AJ Jones, senior infielder
Hampered by injuries last season and summer. Finally healthy, had an outstanding fall. Had a big game in ann exhibition game vs Elon with a three-run homerun and multiple hard-hit balls. Left-handed hitter, who is gritty and shows some pop. Will be a key piece in the lineup that will feature a host of new players.
Diego Barrett, senior righthanded pitcher
Didn’t have the best numbers in 2024, but has shown marked improvement over the fall. Threw some good innings, and at the end of the fall had his best outing. Throws 90-91mph with three pitches. It’s all about strikes and quality strikes with his off-speed pitches. He made some solid improvement over the course of the fall, being able to live in the strike zone.
