Southern University and Florida A&M Will Play a Regional Tuneup in Pensacola, Florida this Saturday

Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) 2019 Champions Southern University and Florida A&M will play two seven-inning doubleheader games May 25th in Pensacola, Florida. The games are being played as a scrimmage to get their players ready for the NCAA Regionals as both teams earned slots by winning recent conference tournaments.

Blue Wahoo Stadium

The game will take place in Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola, voted the best Double-A minor league park affiliated with Major League Baseball. The Blue Wahoos of the Southern League are affiliated with the Minnesota Twins organization. Legendary college World Series umpire Bruce Raven will call the game free to the public with snacks. Both teams will have access to the video scoreboard. The game will not record any official statistical information. Game time Saturday is 12 p.m.

Southern and North Carolina A&T were originally scheduled to play in the inaugural HBCU World Series game scheduled for May 24th in Chicago. Both teams announced this past Wednesday the cancellation of the game. The contractual agreement between Southern, NC A&T and BCSG360 were not fulfilled prior to the baseball teams preparing for travel from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Greensboro, North Carolina. Their were also concerns of traveling to the Chicagoland area with thunderstorms forecast for Friday and no contingency in place should the game have to be played the next day.

Both teams will be watching the NCAA Regional Selection Show Monday May 27 at 10 a.m. to learn the site they will open postseason play. The NCAA Selection will air on ESPN and ESPN 3 at 11 a.m.
