SIAC Baseball Players of the Week (through March 1, 2026)

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday, March 3, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Kent Johnson (Benedict) and Austin McCormack (Savannah State) were recognized.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KENT JOHNSON, BENEDICT COLLEGE
Pitcher/Outfielder/1st Base | Senior | Los Angeles, Calif.
Johnson helped lead the offensive assault for the Benedict Tigers in their series sweep over Kentucky State last week. In three games, he went 7-for-11 (.636) with 2 doubles, 4 home runs, and 8 RBIs. He had a .667 on-base percentage and a 2.000 slugging percentage with a 2.667 OPS.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – AUSTIN MCCORMACK, SAVANNAH STATE UNIVERSITY
Left-Handed Pitcher | Freshman | Tampa, Fla.
McCormack opened the week with two scoreless innings in a 7-0 win over Tampa, allowing just two hits while striking out two. He followed with a seven-inning start in a 6-3 victory over Morehouse. In that appearance, McCormack surrendered three earned runs on nine hits while striking out seven to secure the win.
