ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its Baseball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 17, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Tyler Turner and Samuel Crew of Albany State University were recognized.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TYLER TURNER, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Catcher | R-Sophomore | Savannah, Ga.
Turner paced Albany State offensively with an outstanding week at the plate against Columbus State and Kentucky State. Turner consistently delivered in key moments, recording multiple extra-base hits and driving in critical runs. His performance was highlighted by a home run and several doubles, contributing to Albany State’s explosive offensive production during the conference-opening series. Turner’s impact extended beyond power, as he provided timely hitting, run production, and steady leadership in the lineup, playing a pivotal role in the Golden Rams’ success.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK – SAMUEL CREW, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY

Crew delivered a dominant performance on the mound, highlighted by a masterful outing against Kentucky State. Crew tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing zero hits while striking out 10 batters over seven innings. He demonstrated exceptional command and composure, limiting opportunities and controlling the tempo from the first pitch to the final out. Crew’s ability to silence the Thorobreds’ offense was instrumental in securing the series sweep and showcased one of the most commanding pitching performances of the week.
