Santiago earned the accolade for a phenomenal complete game effort against Clark Atlanta over the weekend. The sophomore right-hander threw a 7.0 inning shutout against Clark in game one of a three-game SIAC series with the Panthers.
Santiago allowed no runs on three hits with two walks, and eight strikeouts to improve to 5-0 on this season. The Tigers swept the series with Clark, beating the Panthers 10-0, 6-3 and 13-1 in the series.
Savannah State baseball is atop the SIAC East Division standings with a 15-5 overall record and an 11-1 conference mark after sweeping three consecutive SIAC series against LeMoyne-Owen, Spring Hill and Clark Atlanta.
They were also voted into the No. 10 spot in the NCBWA South Region poll this week.
