The BCSG 360 (Black College Sports Group) and Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp minor league baseball club announce the first annual JAX Diamond Classic showcasing two HBCU baseball programs, Edward Waters College and Savannah State University. The inaugural event is set to take place March 22, 2021 at the home stadium of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp minor league baseball team, who play in the Class Triple-A International League.
BCSG 360s CEO, Prentiss Hill stated “we are excited to partner with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp to host a battle of two Historically Black Colleges and University baseball programs in the JAX Diamond Classic”.
Hill’s BCSG 360 is the nation’s largest group solely representing the black college community offering scholarships, building research initiatives, creating innovative programs and serving as a resource in higher education as a charitable organization.
Both baseball teams are thrilled to play against each other considering Edward Waters and Savannah State will compete as Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) members when EWC joins the conference in 2022. “This is a good challenge that we have the opportunity to play in” said Edward Waters Head Coach Reginald Johnson.
Part of the proceeds from the game between EWC and Savannah State will be donated to bolster programs for college admittance, scholarships and college preparation for students.
