Savannah State is Ranked Eighth While Albany State Receives Votes in Latest NCBWA Baseball South Regional Poll

Savannah State was knocked off the top spot in Black College Nines HBCU Baseball Top 10 large school poll this week, but continue to garner votes the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Associations South Regional NCAA Division II Top 10 Poll.  The NCBWA ranked Savannah State No. 8 in it latest  poll announced Wednesday, April 20th.

Savannah State (28-9 overall and 23-1 in conference) was upset this past weekend in a three-game sweep by a surging Edward Waters University team. Savannah State returns to action with a big series this weekend with SIAC conference foe Albany State which could decide the regular season champion..

The Tigers hope to make a return trip to Montgomery, AL Riverwalk Stadium and the Black College World Series May 10-15, 2022.

The Albany State University baseball team received votes in the same NCAA Division II Top 10 South Region Poll as Savannah State.

The Golden Rams, with an overall record of 24-8 and 23-3 in the SIAC, are preparing for a big weekend on the road at Savannah State on April 22-23, in a three-game series for first place.  The series will have implications on the upcoming SIAC conference championship.

Albany State is getting good results from its core players. At the plate, Nicholas Hernandez is batting .425 with nine home runs and 45 runs batted in, Lachian Ross is hitting .382 while driving in 41 runs, along with Lovoiser Fisher who is hitting .376 with six homers and 36 runs batted in.

On the hill, the key contributors are Jeremiah Reddell (7-2) with a 2.40 earned run average and 51 strikeouts, along with Jonathan Henry (8-0) who has a 2.59 ERA with 59 recorded strikeouts.

This marks the first time this season the Golden Rams have received votes in NCBWA NCAA DII Top 10 South Region poll.
