LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Standout pitchers Brian Rivera (Sr./Cidra, Puerto Rico) and Jeremy Sandifer (Sr./Virginia Beach, VA) each threw one-hit shutouts as Saint Augustine’s University blanked The Lincoln University 8-0 and 5-0 in a CIAA baseball doubleheader at LU Baseball Field on Saturday, April 25, 2015.

Jeremy Sandifer Leads The CIAA In Strikeouts

Rivera recorded eight strikeouts in seven complete innings in Game 1, and Sandifer amassed 12 strikeouts in six innings in Game 2. Sean Brassington (Jr./Raleigh, NC) pitched the final inning in the second game and earned one strikeout. Sandifer leads the CIAA with 75 strikeouts and Rivera is second with 66.

The Falcons smacked four home runs in two games. The home run hitters were Jason Baytop (Jr./Manchester, MD), Alexis Garcia (So./Maracaibo, Venezuela), Darryl Washington-Hardy (Sr./River Grove, IL) and Carey Cheek (Jr./Baltimore, MD).

The Falcons, winners of three straight games, upped their record to 17-24 overall and 6-8 in the CIAA. The Lions dropped to 2-32 overall and 0-14 in the CIAA.

Both teams will play their second doubleheader at LU Baseball Field on Sunday, April 26. Game times are 1 p.m. and approximately 3 p.m. These will be the last regular-season games for the Falcons this season.
