Southern, the reigning HBCU Baseball Large School National Champions, opens the 2020 season February 14, against the University of New Orleans in New Orleans, LA. Our Black College Nines (BCN) polling committee picked the Jaguars as the favorite to win the title as its top-ranked team.
BCN podcast centered on Southern going from nine wins in 2018 to 32 in 2019 which led to defeating the nations top ranked LSU Tigers making this the biggest turnaround in NCAA Division I collegiate baseball history. Winning the SWAC Division and conference title, crowned HBCU Baseball Champions, and the near upset of defeating the nation’s 5th rank team (Mississippi State) in the NCAA Regionals. Jackson was also HBCU Baseball Coach of The Year in 2019.
