The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) appointed Robert Holloway as its Baseball Coordinator of Officials in August 2021.
Holloway brought a wealth of experience to his new role with the conference. Prior to joining the SWAC, he officiated at five NCAA Regionals and has umpired college baseball in several conferences, including the SWAC, SEC, Conference USA, Sun Belt, and Southland Conference. Holloway also served as crew chief for the SWAC Baseball Tournament for many years, as well as for the Southland Conference Baseball Tournament, and he was the crew chief for the Conference USA Baseball Tournament in 2019.
He has worked at the MHSAA State Championships and the MACJC State and Regional Championships. Additionally, he was the Coordinator of Officials for the former Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (now known as the Historically Black College and University Athletic Conference, or HBCUAC).
During his college years, Holloway played baseball at Mississippi College and Alcorn State University. After graduating, he coached high school baseball and basketball.
Unfortunately, Holloway’s tenure with the SWAC came to an end in May 2024. His vision as a coordinator conflicted with the desires of the coaches, leading him to resign immediately rather than compromise his position or the NCAA policies.
Throughout his time with the SWAC, Holloway expressed gratitude for his role, stating, “It has truly been an honor and a privilege to serve as the Coordinator of Baseball in the SWAC.” He recently had the opportunity to share his story on the Black College Nines (BCN) podcast.
