Norfolk State outfielder Tanner Brandon was named the MEAC Player of the Week on Monday, as announced by the conference office.
Brandon hit .545 (6-for-11) to lead NSU to a series win over NJIT. Brandon hit two doubles, stole two bases, drove in two runs and hit his first homer as a Spartan in the series. On Friday, he went 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the first Spartan win of the weekend, then tallied a season-high three hits (3-for-4) with two doubles in Saturday’s win.
A first-year Spartan who transferred from Bluefield State, Brandon leads the MEAC with five doubles so far this year. All six of his extra-base hits on the year have come in NSU’s last five games.
