NORFOLK, Va. – Fans who visit Marty L. Miller Baseball Field this season and beyond will see another added dimension to Norfolk State's home facility: a new LED scoreboard, which was recently installed in time for the 2015 season.

Tidewater Signs and Boards recently installed the new 38-foot wide by 14-foot tall board behind the wall in left-center field, replacing the original scoreboard from when the field opened in 1997. The new LED line score scoreboard with microprocessor, built by All-American Scoreboards, cost $60,000, weighs 1,400 pounds and features a large Spartan head logo and LED Norfolk State University lettering across the top.

The installation of the board marks the completion of phase 3 of the Marty L. Miller Baseball Field Improvement Plan. The first two phases – new infield sodding and a new premium athletic field turf collar around home plate – were completed in 2014. A new brick backstop with netting is the next phase in the improvement plan and has a target completion date of June 2015.

"We would like to give recognition to our corporate champions, S.B. Ballard Construction and Electronic Systems and to the countless number of other corporate sponsors and individual donors who made our vision into a reality," NSU baseball coach Claudell Clark.  "The purpose of the ongoing field improvement plan is to enhance the fan experience at our baseball games and to leave a lasting impression upon organizations and guests who visit the facility."
