Lincoln University of Missouri is shutting down its Baseball program.
The university announced the decision Tuesday, May 10th, minutes after University leaders made the decision after a campus-wide study conducted by the institution for the fiscal realities from an operating standpoint placing demand that decisive action for the greater good of the athletic department and academics.
The University is looking at expenses only continuing to increase. When considering a model that best protects the financial future and prominence of the athletic department, baseball and tennis are simply not sustainable.
The decision to discontinue baseball at Lincoln, particularly because of its effect on the lives of the student-athletes and coaches that have worked to restore the quality of the program was a tough decision the administration made.
