The Kentucky State Baseball team swept Alice Lloyd 8-3 and 9-2 in Friday’s doubleheader.
A pair of Thorobreds earned home runs in today’s doubleheader home opener, Sophomore Collier Higgs and Junior Jace Wilson.
The Thorobreds secured 17 hits and 17 runs to score off every single hit while only allowing eight hits and four runs.
GAME ONE
The Thorobreds defeated Alice Lloyd College 8-3 in the first contest.
Brady Bibbs was the winning pitcher for the Thorobreds. Bibbs allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six.
Sophomore Collier Higgs secured a homerun allowing the Thorobreds to score three runs at the bottom of the third.
The Thorobreds earned eight hits, with Wilson and Higgs securing multiple hits for Thorobreds. Higgs and Wilson each managed two hits to lead Kentucky State to victory.
GAME TWO
The Thorobreds eased over Alice Lloyd College 9-2 in the final contest of the doubleheader.
In the first inning, the Thorobreds capitalized early on the offensive end with Junior Josh Graves double, allowing two of his teammates to score and put the teams lead at 2-0 early.
Kentucky State put four runs on the board in the fifth inning. The strong offensive performance was led by Sophomore Brennon Williams, Junior Aram Kumar, Graduate Student Kevin Givhan, and Wilson driving those runs.
Junior right-handed pitcher Dashawn Hureskin earned the win lasting seven innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out six.
Williams knocked one out of the park in the fifth inning.
The Thorobreds tallied nine hits that were led by Williams, Givhan, and Kumar, collecting multiple runs.
