Jarvis Christian Joins Two Other HBCU Baseball Programs In National Polls

For the first time in program history, Jarvis Christian’s baseball team is receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll as announced by the national office Tuesday afternoon.

In three games over the past weekend, the Bulldogs (19-9) swept Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) foe LSU-Alexandria, who received votes in the previous week’s poll. That weekend series extend the Bulldogs win streak to 9 games in a row and tied for the number 2 spot in the RRAC conference.

The Bulldogs are set to travel for a three-game weekend series with University of Houston – Victoria on Friday and Saturday, March 22-23. Game one is set for Friday followed with a double header on Saturday.

Winston Salem State continues its national rankings in this week’s National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Atlantic Regional Poll at No. 7. The 16-9 Rams are scheduled in mid-week game March 20th, hosting Queens University, then a four-game HBCU baseball match up weekend tilt with two scheduled doubleheaders March 23-24, against Bluefield State at Asheboro, N.C. (McCrary Park).

Kentucky State continues to garner votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II South Region Poll with a record of 13-5. The Thorobreds hit the road for a mid-week contest at Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, TN, then return home for a four-game SIAC conference weekend matchup with Lane at Frankfort, Ky.

All three teams are ranked in Black College Nines (BCN) HBCU Baseball small school Top 10. The poll lists Kentucky State at No. 1, with No. 2 Winston Salem State and No. 3 Jarvis Christian Right behind.

The next polling date for HBCU Baseball Top 10 will be released by BCN on March 26, 2019.
