Head coach Michael Holochuck and the Jarvis Christian baseball program are excited about their fall schedule. The Bulldogs’ slate features exhibition games and intrasquad scrimmages. This past season, Jarvis enjoyed one of the best seasons in school history after a remarkable run culminating in the 2019 opening round of the NAIA National Tournament.
Overall, Jarvis Christian has a good core group of returning players who understand the program and conference well and are proven. The Bulldogs also have a very good mixture of some JUCO transfers with potential and its best freshman class in eight years.
Here are the 2020 Bulldog prospects…
RETURNING PLAYERS
Kevin Ciprian – Senior catcher .329/.503/.439 will be a leader for the Bulldogs both offensively and defensively.
Chandler Matthews – Senior first base/catcher .267/.455/.365. Has a ton of experience will provide versatility and an offensive spark.
Anthony Orta – Senior left handed pitcher/outfielder legit two way guy. Was the game one starter on the mound as a junior looks to be there again this year. 5-7, 104 innings pitched with 126 strikeouts.
Phillip Griego – Senior right handed pitcher, last year 8-1, 2 Saves, 2.84 earned run average as a junior was leading the country in wins before season was cut short by injury. Has potential to be one of our best arms.
Phillip Jones – Junior right handed pitcher best arm talent in the program. Redshirted in 2019 after a very good 2018 season. Will look to factor in on the weekend rotation or back end reliever.
TOP NEW PLAYERS
Eloy Puentes – Sophomore right handed pitcher JUCO transfer looks to factor in in a huge way. Has the ability and stuff to be a weekend guy.
Khalil Robinson – Sophomore infield power bat who has the ability to be a double digit home run guy. Can really swing it.
Kaine Smith – Junior mid-infielder with plus plus athlete top of order guy that can really run. Solid defensively.
Darien Burns – Junior outfielder redshirted in 2019 all the tools are there. Has potential to be a difference maker.
All scrimmages will be at the Bulldogs’ home field.
