JACKSON, Miss. – Jackson State University senior Melvin Rodriguez was named to the Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American baseball team, in an announcement by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

The JSU second baseman is ranked fourth in NCAA Division I baseball in batting average (.421), fifth in hits (97), 19th in doubles (22), 24th in on base percentage (.477) and runs (59) and 20th in RBIs (60).

The Manati, PR native led the Tigers in batting average, hits, doubles, runs batted in, and total bases. He was also named the SWAC Player of the Year, Co-hitter of the Year and was selected a first team All-Conference member. Rodriguez was a finalist for the C Spire Ferriss trophy, a SWAC All-Tournament team member and was on the Dick Howser Trophy Watch List.
