Jackson State Baseball’s Omar Johnson Earns 500th Career Coaching Victory

Jackson State Head Baseball Coach Omar Johnson notched his 500th career coaching victory during the scheduled Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) baseball game with a 5-0 win over Alabama State this past April 23, 2022. The Miami, Florida native reached the milestone in 16 seasons manning the JSU baseball program.

In his 15th season last year, Johnson posted his thirteenth 30-plus win season going 34-9, with a perfect 24-0 in conference play. Johnson’s winning career record at JSU is now 500-319.

During Johnson’s 16-year tenure at Jackson State University, he has helped the team achieve national recognition as contenders.

Coach Omar Johnson’s milestone win speaks volumes to the many student athletes he has coached over the years building Jackson State into one of the best baseball programs in the SWAC.
