Jackson State Baseball Receives Votes in Latest NCBWA Division I Poll

The Jackson State University baseball program has received votes in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division I poll released on Monday March 22. 

The Tigers (11-5) will resume play with a midweek contest March 24 with Grambling State then head into the SWAC weekend hosting Alabama A&M in Jackson, Mississippi on March 26-28 in a three-game series. This season’s results already include a resounding early season conference sweep of Alabama State.  

This is clearly a talented team head coach Omar Johnson has. The Tigers have a tough non-conference schedule in both midweek and weekend games including games within the division.

The 2021 poll voters come from among 34 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. The ’21 season features 302 NCAA Division I baseball-playing schools.  For more information or to join the NCBWA, please go to www.ncbwa.com.

There have been 11 conferences (eight this week) represented in the first five standings of 2021, and there were 15 different conferences included in the COVID-19 abbreviated NCBWA polls in 2020. Seven conferences graced the March 15 standings.
