SAGU Sports Information
Waxahachie, Texas The Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) baseball team lost both games of Saturday’s twin bill to Hutson-Tillotson, 1-2 and 4-9.
SAGU Junior Jared Pisors started pitching and went 6 and 1/3 innings. Pisors had two strike-outs, while allowing three hits and two runs. Hayden Ballard came in as relief for 2/3 innings and was able to get two quick strike-outs.
SAGU’s lone run came in the first inning. Freshman Griffin Glenn reached base off of a HTU error. Freshman Devin Ward came in to pinch run for Glenn. Ward stole second, and then was able to score off of a wild throw. At the end of the first, SAGU was up, 1-0.
In the top of the third, HTU was able to score two runs off of two hits and one SAGU error. In the end, the Rams won with those two runs.
In game two, SAGU junior Hayden Killebrew started on the mound, going 2 and 2/3 innings. Killebrew had two strike-outs. Sophomore Tucker Burt pitched 2 and 2/3 innings with one strike out. Sophomore Hayden Ballard finished for the Lions, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings with two strike outs.
In the top of the third, HTU scored six runs off of six hits. The Lions only had one error in the inning.
SAGU was able to rally in the bottom of the fifth when Glenn, Ward, and junior Bryant Threadgill all got on base thanks to singles. Freshman Dustin Miller singled through a hole at second, allowing Glenn and Ward to score. Junior Carson Conarty made it to base thanks to a single up the middle. Freshman Josh Terry hit a sacrifice fly to center field, driving in Miller. With bases loaded, sophomore Tallon Ralstin reached base on a walk, bringing Conarty home. SAGU had four runs off of five hits with three left on base.
