HBCU Baseball Weekend Sweeps (March 28-March 30)

Edward Waters University 

The No. 6 ranked Tigers completed a series sweep over SIAC rival Tuskegee over the weekend, with final scores of 11-7, 8-5, and 17-2 in their three-game series at Washington Field on Saturday afternoon. The EWU Tigers improved to 21-13 for the season and 14-7 in conference play.

Wiley University 

The No. 4 Wildcats completed a series sweep against Wilberforce, a member of the HBCUAC conference, over the weekend. They won the three-game series with scores of 9-0, 22-8, and 11-9 in the final game. With this victory, Wiley’s overall record improves to 22-12, and their conference record stands at 14-4.

Mississippi Valley State University

Mississippi Valley State completed a three-game series in the SWAC, sweeping Alcorn State over the weekend. The scores were 13-11, 16-13, and 15-12 at Magnolia Field in Itta Bena, Mississippi.

Dillard University

Dillard University’s No. 8 team swept a three-game series against conference rivals Voorhees in the HBCUAC, with final scores of 7-2, 5-2, and 8-5.

Benedict College 

The Tigers achieved a three-game sweep against SIAC conference rival Morehouse College. The final scores were 4-3, 12-11, and 21-2, all in Columbia, SC.

Florida A&M University 

The No. 3 Rattlers achieved a three-game sweep against SWAC conference rival No. 8 Prairie View A&M. The final scores were 10-0, 11-1, and 7-2 at Moore-Kittles Field in Tallahassee, Fla.

Alabama State University 

No. 1 Alabama State Hornets completed a series sweep over The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff during the weekend, with scores of 9-8, 12-9, and 14-3 7-innings, and the series final 14-4 in Pine Bluff, AR.
