HBCU Baseball Weekend Sweeps (April 4-April 6)

Bethune-Cookman University 

The No. 2 ranked Wildcats completed a series sweep over SWAC rival Mississippi Valley State over the weekend, with final scores of 13-3, 6-5, and 15-5 in their three-game series at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, FL. BCU’s record improves to 17-15 overall for the season and 10-2 in conference play.

Coppin State University 

The Eagles completed a three-game series in Northeast Conference (NEC), sweeping conference rival University of Maryland Eastern Shore over the weekend. The scores were 3-1, 16-6, and 7-3 at Joe Cannon Stadium, Hanover, MD.

Savannah State University 

Savannah State, No. 2 team ranked in Black College Nines Top 10 Poll, swept a three-game series against SIAC conference rivals Tuskegee, with final scores of 11-1 and 13-7 in Saturday’s doubleheader, and 6-5 on Sunday at Tiger Field in Savannah, GA. SSU’s record improves to 21-9 overall and 18-6 in the conference.

Florida A&M University 

The No. 1 Rattlers achieved a three-game sweep against SWAC conference rival No. 6 Jackson State. The final weekend series scores were 7-3, 11-1, and 11-6. The Rattlers are 16-13 this season and lead the conference with an 11-1 record.

Southern University at New Orleans

The Knights, currently on an seven-game winning streak, swept Tougaloo over the weekend with scores of 14-7 and 4-3.

Stillman College 

The Tigers took three games against Rust in HBCUAC action during the weekend with a doubleheader sweep with scores of 3-2 and 10-3. They won the finale on Saturday and secured the series with a 9-8 score.

Alabama State University 

ASU scored a total of 49 runs compared to 20 for Alabama A&M as the Hornets swept the series with scores of 11-1, 13-10, and 25-9.

Texas Southern University 

The Tigers concluded their weekend SWAC series winning all three games against Alcorn State. TSU won the first game 5-1 and swept the doubleheader with scores of 10-5 and 20-9, securing the series.
