HBCU Baseball Weekend in Review Week Six – Large School Division

Delaware State defeated Norfolk State 12-5 on Sunday and took three of four games from the Spartans in a weekend series.

University of Maryland Eastern Shore was defeated by Coppin State, 6-4, in Sunday’s series finale and was forced to settle for a four game weekend series split.

Prairie View A&M baseball team swept rival Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions winning all three game over the weekend. The Panthers defeated UAPB by the scores of 4-3 on Friday, 12-3 on Saturday and 8-5 during Sunday’s contest. The Panthers sit tied at the top of the division at 6-3 in SWAC conference play.

Southern baseball was dominant in two of the three games they defeated Texas Southern to secure their second straight weekend series of the season. Sunday’s 14-3 win the Jaguars pounded out 16 hits enroute to the series clincher.

The Grambling State University baseball team completed a weekend sweep of Alcorn State, handing the Braves a three-game losing streak. Grambling scored 57 runs the entire weekend series winning game one Friday 11-7, Saturday’s 32-10 win, and 14-4 Sunday afternoon.
