HBCU Baseball Weekend in Review Week Nine – Large School Division

HBCU Baseball No. 1 ranked Alabama State won its three-game series winning two of three from Jackson State. The Hornets won Friday 6-2, shutout loss to JSU 5-0 on Saturday, then pounded Jackson State winning 21-3 on Sunday to claim its fifth SWAC series this season.

Florida A&M won two of three games from Alabama A&M over the weekend. The Rattlers won Friday’s game 14-5, lost on Saturday 6-5, then beatAlabama A&M 18-8 Sunday afternoon.

Grambling State’s Shemar Page threw a perfect game, collecting a season and career-high 13 strikeouts as the Tigers won 16-0 over the weekend.

Maryland Eastern Shore’s baseball team took its first weekend Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series win with a 17-8 pounding of Norfolk State on Sunday.

Coppin State won its series taking three of four from Delaware State.

Jackson State University head baseball coach Omar Johnson won his 500th career game as JSU beat Alabama State 5-0 in game two on Saturday.
