HBCU Baseball Weekend in Review Week Four – Small School Division

The Savannah State Tigers baseball team won both ends of a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) doubleheader versus Spring Hill College on Sunday afternoon by the scores of 13-9 and 5-3. Sunday’s win resulted in a three-game sweep from the Tigers opening series 4-2 win Friday. Savannah State improves to 12-5 overall.

Harris-Stowe State University captured the weekend finale 3-2 win over Peru State in the final match of the three-games series. Both, the Hornets of Harris-Stowe and the Bobcats of Peru State went the distance, however, the Hornets captured the win 3-2. HSSU finished with three runs on four hits and four errors.

West Virginia State came out on top Sunday over The College of Saint Rose. The game between both teams saw 25 total runs and 30 hits. The game featured four lead changes before West Virginia State baseball prevailed Sunday in a thrilling 13-12 victory.

To avenge Saturday’s 17-9 lost Kentucky State splits doubleheader with Rockhurst winning the second game 16-4 in the final contest of the home series.

Tuskegee baseball prevailed in a weekend sweep scoring 33 runs while the Golden Tigers pitching staff held Clark Atlanta to 13 weekend runs. Tuskegee grabbed Saturday’s doubleheader game one win with a 11-0 shutout, finished the night cap with a 11-5 victory. Tuskegee wrapped up Sunday with an 11-8 win over Clark Atlanta.

The Lions of Florida Memorial Baseball out performed it’s long time State of Florida rival Edward Waters University taking the first game opening series 7-3 before splitting a doubleheader Saturday a game one 10-1 win before EWU bats woke up earning a 10-9 victory as the Lions earned weekend series at Edward Waters.
