HBCU Baseball Weekend in Review Week Five – Large School Division

Alabama A&M (5-14, 3-3 SWAC) took two of three games over Jackson State (12-12 1-5 SWAC). AAMU claimed the series finale with a 15-9 decision over Jackson State on Sunday, March 27.

Southern University won the weekend series over Grambling State. In game one, the Jaguars won 3-2, but lost the second game 11-5. On Sunday afternoon Southern beat Grambling by the final score of 11-5.

The Prairie View A&M baseball team won its series over Alcorn State, scoring 17 runs on 14 hits Friday afternoon and shutting out the Alcorn State Braves, 17-0. In the second game the Panthers defeated Alcorn by one run winning 10-9, then the Braves prevented a Prairie View sweep in a close 8-7 game.

The Delaware State baseball team recorded its second straight split in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) competition with the Hawks of University of Maryland Eastern Shore. UMES won game one 15-0. Delaware State evened the series in game two 5-4. UMES grabbed a 11-2 victory in game three, before Delaware State’s 3-2 win in the four-game series finale.
